Engineering Services Examination / Indian Engineering Services

Indian Engineering Services remains the most sought-after career for the engineering graduates in India. An all India level competitive examination, called Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services. A engineering services that meet the technical functions of the Government of India.The exam is conducted for selection of engineers for Government of India’s engineering organizations, such as Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), Central Engineering Service (CES), Military Engineering Services (MES), etc. The career progression goes smoothly attaining high esteem . The candidates who get selected for ESE, enjoy a very high respect and stature in the society. Candidates who are selected for ESE are appointed as Assistant Executive Engineer in various departments under central government for Group A and Group B posts.

The Examination constitutes of a written examination followed by an interview for the personality test. The recruitment of qualified candidates is made under the following categories:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Age Limit: 21 to 30 years (1st January of Examination Year)
    (However certain categories of persons (SC, ST & OBC) and certain departmental candidates are eligible for age relaxation).

  • Nationality

    In case of nationalities, an aspiring candidate has to be one of the following mentioned below:

    • Candidate should be the citizen of India.
    • Candidate can be the citizen of Nepal and Bhutan.
    • Any person who hails from the Indian origin and has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Kenya , Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with a purpose of his/her permanent settlement in India.
  • Educational qualifications: A degree in Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent. M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects are also eligible. Candidates appearing  their final year engineering degree examination or equivalent are also eligible.
